Hural Olga The papers of archival and investigative cases of Yurii Borysov’s for 1938 as the source for research of his biographySection: Contexts of Lesya Ukrainka’s biographical world: A view from the 21st century Abstract: The aim of the work. The research analyses Yurii Borysov’s archival and investigative cases in 1938, stored in the Central State Archive of Supreme Bodies of Power and Government of Ukraine. It contains two volumes of investigation. Yurii George Borysov was an agronomist, and husband of Isydora Kosach, a younger sister of Lesya Ukrainka (Larysa Kosach). The goal of the investigation is the exam of papers, the definition of informative meaning, especially facts of his life, for reconstruction biography and the Kosach family history in 1930s. The methodology. The concept includes objective method and historicism, also we used general methods for science (analysis, synthesis, description, and systematization), general methods for history research (objective and thematic methods, chronology), special methods for source studies (heuristic algorithm and archeography). The scientific novelty. There we discover previously unknown papers and narratives in the Yurii Borysov’s life; the biography of this member of the Kosach family still is poorly known in historiography. We found the scholar valuable of paper in investigated case after imprison in 1938, and compare information to well-known facts from other sources. Conclusions. The analysis of the paper from the investigation case of Yurii Borysov gives the possibility to know more specific facts from his biography since World War I, between the first and the second Arrest. It also helps us to find out the progress in the criminal case, proceeding charges by state, finding prosopography information and social circle. Each record in the case includes appellate to the authority to review the Yurii Borysov’s case and V. Rot for rehabilitation of his brother. Also, archival and investigative cases are important as well for research on the Soviet repression of Ukrainian intellectuals and prominent members of the arts community.
