Discourse of Istpart in the Ukrainian memoir narrative of the 20-30s of the 20th century

Abstract: The aim of the work is to clarify the features of discourse of Istpart (Party history) in the domestic memoir narrative in the 20-30s of the twentieth century, its characteristics in the context of the subject, the intentions of the addressees, the authors, and the role of the memoir narrative in the formation of Soviet postulates of history and ideology. The research methodology is based on the application of discourse analysis (content research method), general scientific methods of systematization and classification, principles of historicism, objectivity. The scientific novelty of the article is the consideration of discourse of Istpart (Party history) in the memoir narrative of the 1920s and 1930s as a stable system of ideas about events/phenomena presented in various texts, fixed in the consciousness and language of people, associated with certain ideological constructions, stable expressions and rhetoric, a set of arguments that were purposefully and systematically formed by the Soviet government as one of the key factors in the development of Soviet historical science and state ideology as opposed to the national one. Conclusions. Discourse of Istpart (Party history) in the memoir narrative is studied on the basis of the analysis of the journal “Chronicles of the Revolution” as an important communication resource and mechanism of influence of the Soviet government on society. Memoirs texts were created in a clearly defined circle of issues, accents and in accordance with ideological canons. This led the authors to display in their memoirs a distorted reality in which they were participants and looked like an artificially formed construct, “adapted” to the Soviet canon. At the same time, the narrative was characterized by the almost complete “absence” of the memoirist’s face as the main marker of the genre, the “solubility” of his “I” in the collective, which complicates the process of understanding the reasons for political and moral choices. However, the memoir narrative, created according to the canons of soviet discourse, is an integral part of domestic humanitarian knowledge, reveals the socio-political aspects of the formation of the Soviet state, which used memories as a mechanism for translating and affirming its own meanings/canons in historical science and society to construct a “new Soviet man” whose life had to be completely subordinated to the tasks of the state and the Party.
