Modern Ukrainian biography faces the challenges of the era of visualitySection: Theory and methodology of modern biography Abstract: The purpose of the publication is to discover one of the segments of the biographical studies, represented by visualized forms. Observations, reflections, hypotheses, conclusions and generalizations continue the current topic, which wascovered in previous author’s articles. Scientific novelty. At the same time, focusing on the challenges of the modern era of visual information, the inextricable connection between visual art and biography, analyzing the most popular modelsof visualized biography and capturing correlations between Ukrainian researchand global trends, the content of the publication is broader and deeper. The methodology of visual (pictorial) turn and appropriate analytical approaches andtech niques of biography, art history, cultural studies, historiographical and sourcecriticism allowed to make a general mosaic picture of the visual segment of biography and to trace its features due to the historical and cultural tradition, intellectual, scientific potential and Ukrainian public inquiries. Conclusions. The modern era of visualization, the transformation of society and the visual turn inthe humanities are key factors that have ensured the emergence of new forms of biographical reconstructions with an emphasis on visualization. Some publications, which were in the focus of the study, confirm the author’s hypothesis about the sharpening of scientists’ interest in the visualization of biographical representations. At the same time, the general tendencies present in modern Ukrainian bio graphical practices, testify restrained attitude of scientists to the visualized forms of biographical reconstructions yet, the lack of deep theoretical research in this area, its fragmentation and situationality. Keywords: Era of visualization, visual turn, Ukrainian biography, visualized biography, "photobiography", "pictorial biography", "illustrated biography".
