Lesya Ukrainka’s scientific biography: Possibilities of reconstruction

Abstract: The aim of the work. The article considers approaches to the scientific biography of Lesya Ukrainka / Larysa Kosach. The historical, biographical, literary, socio-political, ethical, psychological contexts of the project are taken into account. Considering the specifics of the work, the parameters of biographical reconstruction are particularly promising. The main thing will be the intention to get to know a complex figure in all manifestations of her life and activity. It is also necessary in the work to preserve the dynamics of formation and development of the intellectual-creative, ethical, aesthetic, and psychological levels of the individual. The methodology is based on the principles of historicism, objectivity, as well as on general philological methods – comparative-typological, historical-cultural, historical-genetic. As well the methodological basis was the crossing of discourse theory and the biographical discourse. The scientific novelty of the work consists in revealing the main features of Ukrainian culture created by tradition (which is more than a century old) of the image of Larysa Kosach / Lesya Ukrainka. The basis of the study is the correlation of self-perception (stated in lifetime testimonies and documents) and the image-concept of a famous figure approved by contemporaries and successors. The problem of myths created about the writer is studied separately, in particular, their origin and ideology are outlined. As a counterweight to "myth-making", an alternative of an objective scientific approach has been put forward, which will encompass the maximum possible system of levels of the artist’s existence in time and space. In accordance with the principles determined by scientific objectivity, the main structural levels of the biography are declared. Conclusions. The main achievement of the article is the conceptualization of the matrix of the scientific biography of Larysa Kosach / Lesya Ukrainka through the disclosure of main approaches to its preparation. A detailed analysis of the historical-source and conceptual basis of the possible project is offered. Based on this basis, a system of scientific research was developed, where each of the defining directions of research corresponds to a certain level of life and creativity of the great writer.
