Aleksandrova Halyna Teachers in the life of literature explorer M. I. Storozhenko: Scientific and personal communicationSection: Prosopographical studies Abstract: The purpose of the article: on the basis of autobiographical notes, memories, correspondence, to find out the specifics of M. I. Storozhenko’s (1836-1906) relationships with his teachers, to show their influence on the formation of the personality of a literary critic, to reflect their scientific and personal communication, which will make it possible to investigate in more detail the biography of this prominent Ukrainian who, due to the historical realities of the time, realized himself as a specialist abroad. Research methodology: in the article, we use descriptive and hermeneutic methods, theoretical analysis and synthesis, which makes it possible to systematize and summarize the material, to comprehensively characterize it. Scientific novelty. Сonnections of M. I. Storozhenko with his teachers, scientists of that time, scientific and personal communication with them still have not been on scientists’ radar. Therefore, it is important to find out their role in his creative and career growth, recorded in the memories of M. I. Storozhenko and his correspondence, autobiographical notes. Conclusions. University teachers O. M. Bodyansky, F. I. Buslaev, M. S. Tikhonravov are well-known researchers of Ukrainian literature, influenced the formation of M. I. Storozhenko’s worldview, his personal growth and professional formation, the crystallization of scientific views, and the assimilation of traditions. On the example of the biography of M. I. Storozhenko, it is possible to consider not only the role of Ukrainians in imperial science and culture, but also the importance of Moscow scientists in the fate of his student, and later colleague, who became the most famous Shakespeare scholar despite the circumstances, communicated with the most authoritative scientists of the world, never forgetting about his Ukrainian roots. The teachers contributed to the expansion of scientific contacts, in particular, with figures of Ukrainian science and culture, and facilitated his communication with world literary studies. The respectful attitude towards them is reflected in the numerous letters of M. I. Storozhenko and his memories about him, which is an important source for his biography.
