Сontribution of Svitlana Ivanytska to the study of the history of Chernihiv-Siver Region (late 19th – first third of 20th centuries)

Section: Sources of biographical research

Abstract: The purpose of the article is to highlight Svitlana Grygorivna Ivanytska’s contribution to the study of the history of Chernihiv-Siver Region in the late 19th and early 20th centuries through the prism of historical figures, includingI. Shrag, M. Mohylyansky, Hanna Barvinok, B. Grinchenko, M. Kotsyubynsky, and others. The research methodology is based on the principles of scientific objectivity, systematicity and historicism. Special historical methods were used: biographical, problem-thematic, microhistorical, retrospective, prosopographical. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the fact that S. G. Ivanytska, creatively using the legacy of Serhiy Yefremov and the works of modern authors, managed to analyze the biographies of both famous and forgotten figures of Chernihiv-Siver Region in the context of modern requirements, to find out their role and place in the history of the Ukrainian national liberation movement. Conclusions. Leading domestic historians assess the work of S. G. Ivanytskaas one of the greatest achievements of modern Efremov studies. Historian analyzed the journalistic heritage of S. Efremov in the light of the achievements of modern European historical science. This innovative approach was especially convincingly manifested in her studies of the history of Chernihiv-Sivershchyna. These trends were reflected in the author’s reproduction of historical and biographical data, assessments and observations of S. Efremov, both well-known figures throughout Ukraine and secondary figures. The second half of the 19th– first third of the 20th century is still quite far from completing the study, processes, phenomena, participants in events. This applies to all regions of modern Ukraine, and Chernihiv-Sivershchyna is no exception. Moreover, this region isat the forefront of the confrontation with the criminal intentions of Russian aggressors. Therefore, the works of S. G. Ivanytska will not lose their relevance fora long time, will be in demand and, we hope, will be continued by her followers.
