Honcharenko N. Shevchenko at school: the image of Taras Shevchenko in contemporary history textbooks.Section: T.G. Shevchenko in history and culture of Ukraine Abstract: The article deals with image of Taras Shevchenko as presented in contemporary Ukrainian history textbooks for schools. Textbooks on Ukrainian history from the period of independence (after 1991) have been reviewed and analyzed, particularly these fragments which depict Shevchenko’s life, work, and his impact on social and political processes in Ukraine in XIX century.
