Biographical information resources of university libraries of Ukraine

Abstract: The article is devoted to the development of biographical information resources in the context of the latest information and communication processes presented in the network of university libraries of Ukraine as a component of the country’s library system. In libraries historical-biographical and biobibliographic resources of scientific, edu cational, cultural-informational and cognitive character are formed. They have accumulated a certain practical experience and theoretical groundwork in this field, are being developed predominantly in the context of the presentation of the personalities of famous scientists. Forms of organization of their activities are very different: thematic biobibliography, collection of materials about prominent scientists (veteran and contemporary), book exhibitions and the like. Today, Ukrainian university libraries have experience in creating high-intellectual information products in the field of biography science — databases, bibliographies and biobibliographies, thematic card files in the electronic information space. University libraries of Ukraine have experience in organizing personal and anniversary thematic exhibitions (now also virtual), conducting scientific round tables, literary readings, conferences, seminars, which are the basis for further development of informational and biographical industry.
