Newspaper periodicals as the source of Andrey Sheptytsky activity research

Section: Resources of biographical information

Abstract: The article is written on the basis of materials of the newspaper periodicals relative to the figure of the Ukrainian religious figure, Count, Metropolitan of Galicia and Archbishop of Lviv, the primate of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church Andrey Sheptytsky. The facts contained in these materials are analyzed. The role of newspaper publications for studying the life and activity of Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky is determined. It was noted that newspaper editions occasionally recorded the events related to the activity of Andrey Sheptytsky, printed his appeals,exhortations, instructions, greetings on the front pages, covered the views of the Metropolitan on the political, economic, cultural, religious events that took place on the territory of Ukraine and in the world. A brief description of the newspaper editions containing the diverse biographical information about Andrei Sheptytsky is given.
