“Second place” person as a problem of Oleksandr Voronin (1926 – 2013) figure investigation

Section: Personality in the biography science discourse

Abstract: Specifics, information opportunities, scientific and public significance of biographic investigations, devoted to the “second place” persons in the Ukrainian history are covered. Dependence of modern Ukrainian historians addressing the figures of little-known representatives of the Ukrainian past is shown. Scientific sphere anthropologization is underlined as a basis of qualitative changes in the national historiography. The development of the Ukrainian historiography, that had an essential scientific effect on the investigation of “second place” persons, is presented. The content of biographic publications of several scientific institutions is analyzed. Research priorities shift to the “second place” persons is ascertained. The latest achievements of the scientists of the Institute of Biographical Studies of V. I. Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine in the indicated direction and methodologic value of their developments are outlined. The names of researchers who made a great contribution to the development of this scientific direction are indicated. International benchmarks of the national historical biographistics are shown. The thematic range of issues is revealed. Examples of studies of the life and work of individual representatives of the Ukrainian culture, similar in content and nature to the activity of Oleksandr Voronin, a public and church leader of Ukraine and its expat community, are given. The relevance and public significance of studies of “second place” persons are presented. The role of source complexes in historic and biographic reconstruction is stressed. The possibility and scientific importance of research of Ukrainian culture and church figure Oleksandr Voronin (1926–2013) is proved. It is emphasized, that the figure of Oleksandr Voronin deserves, that his life path, philosophical principles, ideas, creative activity, organizational skills, humanistic and Christian mission dedication become the subject of a special study. Prospects of further research into the biographic and prosopographic memories of the past are emphasized.
