Mykola Nykyforovych Murzakevych is the librarian of Odesa City Public Library

Abstract: This article aims to highlight the results of a study of the little-known life activities of historian, archeologist, archeographer Mykola Nykyforovych Murzakevych (1806-1883) during his tenure at Odesa City Public Library (OCPL) and determine his role in the formation and development of the library. Conceptually significant are clarifications of previously known but insufficiently studied scientific facts, as well as the involvement of new materials identified as a result of the study, which is also the novelty of the study. The research methodology isbased on the principles of historicism, systematics and objectivity, as well as ongeneral historical methods – chronological, retrospective and statistical-analytical.
