Аннотация: ^UThe author analyses some focal aspects of the personality and heritage of the outstanding French philosopher of the XXth century, Michel Foucault. Special attention is devoted to the threats to the biographical research from the «death of the author» thesis proposed by the Foucault’s conceptual supporter Roland Barthes. It is made evident that in fact the thesis of the «death of the author» does not eliminate biographical aspect from the history of philosophy, but rather warns a biographer against such widespread error as a reductive, one-sided interpretation of the object of the research. Foucault made numerous theoretical assertions and practical steps in order to exclude the possibility of the biographical look at him. However, the interest to his personality has not been fading for decades. In this aspect his path is one of the striking examples of the fundamental paradox, which is immanent to the biographies of many true philosophers: they try to transcend the limits of their own subjectivity as much as they can, and because of that they obtain a rare privilege — the interest to their own subjectivity from the others.

Аннотация: Концепція статті базується на твердженні про те, що зображення жінок як рівноправних суб’єктів історії є ефективним інструментом вивчення соціальних спільнот, зокрема регіональних еліт в Україні в часових межах XVIII–XIX ст. Авторка поставила собі за мету відтворити елементи "біографічного світу" жінок із роду Ґалаґанів. Особистісний простір жіночих доль змальовується у взаємодії приватного й публічного за наявними джерелами. Це активізує вивчення фактору спорідненості в життєдіяльності українського дворянства, дослідження мережі майнових і культурних контактів.^UThe concept of the article is based on the statement that woman’s depictionas equal historical subject is an effective tool for studying the social communities, in particular the Ukrainian regional elite within the 18th–19th centuries. The Ukrainian noble family of Galagan represents the rise and fall of “new elite” establishment in Ukraine during early modern and modern times. The most prominent figures are Gnat Galagan, the founder of Kozak’s officerbranch of the family in the beginning of the 18th century and Grygoriy Galagan,the landowner, public figure, educator of the second half of the 19th century. Nevertheless, female component was crucial in the family history, as frequently, material welfare and social status depended on woman’s actions. The author aimed at recreating the elements of “the biographical female world” from Galagan’s family, particularly, a cultural process embodied in a human life with values, motivation, aim and sense of being was reconstructed. The personal space of female fates is rebuilt in close connection with private andpublic spheres according to the presented sources. The documental base of a study was Galagan’s family archive. The high representative level of stored documents permitted to reconstruct the biographical female world according to the several contextual layers – particular text (self-created), big text (contained external information), historical-cultural context (consideration of time realities). A researchfocus change from “male” to “female” revealed the new edges of Galagan’s family life in the society belonged to the 18th-19th century. The fact intensifies lifeaffinity of Ukrainian nobility, study of family, property and cultural relations. Such research direction is perspective for the study of noble community of Left-bank Ukraine consolidated by genealogical, property, intellectual, social and cultural interests.

Аннотация: У статті на базі європейських, американських та австралійських досліджень проаналізованно підходи до поняття "політична біографія" та продемонстровано основні питання, що цікавлять науковців та авторів за цією проблематикою. З’ясовано, що найбільше зацікавлення цим жанром демонструють західні демократичні країни, а більш авторитарні суспільства, зокрема більшість слов’янських країн, не надто вдосконалюють теорію в цьому напрямі. Першість у теорії політичної біографії належить дослідникам із Великої Британії, США та Австралії, де вже кілька століть розвиваються власні школи політичної біографії. Західні дослідники чітко формулюють визначення цього біографічного напряму, наполягають на його перевагах і актуальності та створили кілька посібників із теоретичними та практичними порадами для зацікавлених у політичній біографії. Крім публікацій практичних досліджень, присвячених політикам, а також джерел - мемуарів та епістолярію, у цих країнах дослідники цікавляться взаємовпливами сучасних традицій політичних життєписів з античними пам’ятками. Помітну тенденцію в теорії становить виявлення взаємовпливу між політичними науками, історією та життєписами політиків, причому більшість авторів вважають біографію дуже важливим доповненням до інших напрямів дослідження політики. Ще одним важливим аспектом, зокрема автобіографічного жанру, дослідники вважають його практичне застосування в політиці, що демонструє досвід президентських виборів у США. Свідченням модернізації та сучасності цього жанру біографії є його взаємозалежність із літературою, театром, телебаченням і, що особливо показово - із соціальними мережами. Нині вже цілком очевидно, що "цифровий сторітелінг" - це значущий складник політичної біографії, яку проектує сам політик, тобто це явище майже тотожнє з політичними автобіографіями, які також варто залучати як джерело для написання політичної біографії.^UThe article, based on world researches, analyzes the approaches to the conceptof "political biography" and clarifies the main issues of interest to scholars and authors to this issue. It has been found that Western democracies show the greatest interest to this genre, while more authoritarian societies, including most Slavoniccountries, do not improve their theory in this direction. Leadership in the theory of political biography belongs to researchers from Great Britain, the United Statesand Australia, where their own schools of political biography have been developing for several centuries. Western researchers clearly formulate the definition of this biographical direction, insist on its benefits and relevance, and they have created several manuals with theoretical and practical advice for those interested inpolitical biography. In addition to publishing practical researches on politics, as well as sources: memoirs and epistolary, in these countries, researchers are interested in the relation ship of modern traditions of political biographies with ancient sources, characterize the types of political biographies and genre features. A significant trend in theory is the elucidation of the relationship between political science, history and biographies of politicians, with most authors considering biography to be a very important complement to other areas of political studies. Another important aspect, in particular the autobiographical genre, researchers consider its practical application in politics, which demonstrates the experienceof the US presidential election. Evidence of the modernization and modernity of this genre of biography is its interdependence with literature, theater, televisionand, most importantly, with social networks. Today, there is no doubt that "digital storytelling" is a significant component of political biography, which is designedby the politician himself, and this phenomenon is almost identical to political autobiographies, which should also be used to write political biographies.

Доведено, що біографічна інформація, оцінка діяльності вченого та рис його особистості, подані в некрологах, є цінним історичним і літературознавчим джерелом, а також матеріалом для створення наукової біографії вченого в історико-культурному контексті кінця ХІХ – початку ХХ ст.^UThe article for the first time collected, systematized and analyzed obituaries and memorial articles dedicated to Mykola Illich Storozhenko (1836-1906), a prominent Shakespearean literary critic of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Anative of Ukraine, he studied and worked at Moscow University, was a librarianat the Rumyantsev and Public Museums. Obituaries and memorial articles providean opportunity to reproduce biographical information about M. I. Storozhenko, his contribution to literary criticism and to deepen information about his connections with contemporaries who played a role in the personal and creative life ofthe scientist, the cultural and historical context of the early twentieth century.The authors of most of these publications are literary critics, well acquaintedwith the creative work of M. I. Storozhenko. Therefore, their letters, in particular,inevitably emphasized the irreplaceability of his loss for all science and education,gave an overview and evaluation of his activities. The biographical approach inM. I. Storozhenko’s obituaries was mostly combined with philological discourse. In the publications you can find a reflection of the biography of M. I. Storozhenko,they form a panoramic picture of the main stages of his life and scientific activity, his relationship with society. At the same time, in obituaries and memorial articlesthe figure of M. I. Storozhenko is considered from different angles: from the stand-point of professional, personal, family history, cultural processes, the history of literary criticism. All texts contain biographical facts, information about education,a detailed description of scientific and pedagogical activities, clarifies the attitudeof the scientist to the achievements of predecessors, as well as the uniqueness ofhis views and positions, the role in the development of literary science.Obituaries and memorial articles formed the basis, the frame work for the perception of the image of the deceased, which will later be developed by the authorsof the memoirs. Therefore, they are a valuable historical and literary source and material for the future creation of a scientific biography of this outstanding scientist.
